The Montgomery Bell Academy Extemp Round Robin, a prestigious Tier 1 ranked tournament, recently concluded (1/7-1/8). Major changes were seen in the top 15 of our National Points Race, though McKinley Paltzik (Phoenix Country Day, AZ) maintained her position in first by winning the tournament and earning 1500 points. In second, Phoena Lin (Plano West, TX), earned 1250 points – jumping 5 spots on our national points race leaderboard. Also from Plano West, Kyle Letterer (Plano West, TX) earned 1150 points by placing third. Theodore Gercken, currently in second overall in this season’s national points race, earned fourth place at MBA earning 1000 points. In 5th, marking the first time one school has had three extempers in the top six at the Montgomery Bell Academy Extemp Round Robin, Gabriel Bo (Plano West, TX) earned 900 points. Rounding out the top six, Jonathan Tubb (St Mary’s Hall, TX) earned 800 points.
Sruti Peddi (BASIS Scottsdale, AZ), Raghav Ramki (Plano East, TX), Rohit Vakkalagadda (Bellarmine College Prep, CA), Jack Ververis (Trinity Prep, FL), Kevin Li (Ridge, NJ), Pierce McDade (University, IL), Dev Ahuja (Solon, OH), Amy Cao (Ridge, NJ), Vikram Sundaram (Solon, OH), and Taylor Burris (Potomac, VA) were ranked 7-16th respectively. All earned semifinalist points (550).
